Uvazhemi Alexander,

poselaiu vam i kollegam soobsheni solidarnosti is Londona. Zhelaiu silo i uspekha !

S uvazheniem,
Sara

All of you who have assembled at the March are very brave and courageous people.

You are standing up for the truth and for what is right. Many people in the UK admire your courage. Every single one of you is a hero.

Sara Hall, Russia Country Coordinator, Amnesty International UK

I applaud your bravery and courage in standing up against racism and fascists.   I have experienced racism ever since I was a child living in the UK and completely understand the level of fear and anxiety that people must be experiencing.  However, I am completely sickened by the level of violence and murders associated with racism in Russia.  Reading about the horrific accounts in Russia and rise of racism within Europe has increased my own anxieties profoundly.  If I feel such anxiety living here in the UK, I cannot imagine what it must feel like to be living in Russia. But, I know that your actions, will definitely be of comfort to those who feel vulnerable.  Minorities often feel powerless, that they don’t have the right to speak and that they should put up with physical and verbal abuse.  To have a group of people, such as yourselves, standing up for their rights, is so vitally important.  I will be thinking of you on the day of the march.

7.  Hello,

My name is Hagar Shezaf and I'm a campaigner in Amnesty international-Israel section.

I wanted to express my deep respect for you and the march you are organizing.

One of the countries we focus on in Amnesty is Russia, and it is very touching for me to see that after all you've been through, you still have the courage and hope to stand up against discrimination.

As an Israeli, I think this is very touching, because that in the harsh reality we live in, it's good to know there are good people around the globe and that there is still hope for a better future.

Thank you for spreading out the message of love and human rights to all!

A lot of support and appreciation,

Hagar Shezaf

and the rest of AI Israel staff.

11. I live in England, but one of my friends has sent me a link to your e-mail address, so that I can send you a message of support.

I think you are *very* brave to be organizing the October March, and it is of course so important for ordinary people to stand up against this kind of race hate. Can I send you my very best wishes and hope your March will be peaceful and will make a difference. I will be thinking of you and all your courageous friends on 31st October.

I have attached a document for you to read. It is my tribute to Natalia Estemirova who was murdered for standing up for freedom. At the end I say that we all need to be Natalia. I think that when you all take part in the March, you are being Natalia. Well done!

Sincerely, Janice Davis

THIS IS DIGNITY

My Tribute to Natalia Estemirova who died for Freedom

I won’t cry for Natalia. She was too brave.

I will mourn and regret. She was courageous.

So rather I will celebrate her life, her work,

Feel glad that even in the darkest night, a candle

Always ends up getting lit, and just enough

For somebody to see what’s going on,

And take up pen and paper, and record it.

“Everything that happens is recorded in the mind

Of God.” Simon Wiesenthal said that. So wise.

But law, democracy, and justice can not rely

On just the mind of God.

Natalia called on all of you – the leaders,

Politicians, self-important public servants,

To hold yourselves responsible, to do the proper thing,

And value life, a single person’s life, if it be

Friend or foe, and to respect it, give it rights,

Allow it dignity.

They are the ones who failed, the ones who saw

The democratic death, and sit there still,

Unmoveable, dehumanised.

So I will celebrate Natalia as a symbol, a life

Lived out in stress and danger, and always watched,

Accounted for, a target.

Here they tell us we are free to be ourselves,

“Because you’re worth it!” – But I look

Over my shoulder, see a camera, a form to fill,

And wonder if we too will face that prisoner fate.

If those who write the truth are faced with death,

If those who speak against injustice, and all those

Who want a better world and shout that out,

If all those people become targets, not our nation’s models :

Democracy has died and all we cherish

Will just seep and slip away unchallenged.

I stand up for Natalia.

I shout her name, rejoice

That she was strong enough

To write, record, be named.

We all need to be Natalia.                             Janice Davis, Bromley and Orpington |Group
